Natural Skin Care

In a world where beauty standards are constantly evolving, one thing remains clear: healthy skin is consistently prioritized. As we navigate through countless skincare options, many of us are discovering the benefits of natural and organic products. With growing awareness about the ingredients we put on our skin, embracing a more natural approach is becoming increasingly important. Here’s why I have switched to an organic skincare routine.

1. Gentler on the Skin

Natural and organic products typically contain fewer harsh chemicals, which makes them gentler on the skin. Many conventional skincare items are filled with synthetic additives, preservatives, and fragrances that can lead to irritation, allergies, or breakouts. In contrast, organic ingredients, such as plant extracts and essential oils, nourish the skin without the adverse effects associated with chemical-laden products. This is especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin or conditions like eczema and rosacea.

2. Rich in Nutrients

Organic skincare products are often packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants derived from nature. Ingredients like castor oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera are known for their hydrating and healing properties. These nutrients help to rejuvenate the skin, promoting a radiant complexion and reducing signs of aging. When you choose organic, you’re not just avoiding harmful chemicals; you’re actively feeding your skin with the goodness it craves.

3. Environmentally Friendly

Opting for natural organic products often means supporting sustainable practices. Many brands that prioritize organic ingredients also focus on eco-friendly sourcing and packaging. By choosing these products, you contribute to a healthier planet. Organic farming reduces pollution and promotes biodiversity, ensuring that the ingredients are grown without the use of harmful pesticides and fertilizers.

4. Transparency and Trust

The organic skincare industry is generally more transparent about its ingredient sourcing and production processes. Most brands provide detailed information about what goes into their products, allowing you to make informed choices. When you choose organic, you can trust that you’re avoiding harmful chemicals and supporting companies that align with your values. This was extremely difficult to me, I would spend so much time at the store reading labels I didn’t understand until I started using a free app called Yuka which makes it so simple. (not affiliated just SO helpful, I’ll add a link to this at the end).

5. Long-term Benefits

While some synthetic skincare products may offer immediate results, they can lead to long-term skin issues. In contrast, organic products focus on long-term skin health. The natural ingredients work to repair and protect the skin barrier, improving overall skin function. This holistic approach can lead to a more balanced, vibrant complexion over time when targeting the metabolic level of health.

6. Cruelty-Free Options

Many natural skincare brands are committed to cruelty-free practices, ensuring that no animals are harmed in the testing or production of their products. If animal welfare is important to you, seeking out organic options can align your skincare routine with your ethical beliefs.

Products I Use:

Sky Organics Organic Castor OilCastor oil is a vegetable oil that people use for a wide range of cosmetic and medical purposes. It may provide health benefits for the face and skin, including helping manage acne, moisturizing, and reducing inflammation. I use this on my face at night for deep cleansing and to fade the dark circles under my eyes, I also use castor oil with an eyelash wand on my eyebrows and eyelashes for growth and thickness. Lastly, my favorite way to use castor oil is on my stomach usually at night or while using the sauna and it never fails to correct any bloating and keeps bowel movement regular. You can see more benefits of castor oil here.

Tallow Balm A super ingredient that mimics the natural lipids generated by our skin closer than any ingredient science has uncovered. Tallow balms give the skin the nutrients it needs to repair itself and the natural oils that keep in the moisture and nutrients. I use this on my child every night and it has completely cleared her eczema. I use it on my face and any patches of skin that are prone for dryness.

Cliganic Jojoba Oilderived from the seeds of the jojoba plant, is a versatile and nutrient-rich oil. Its composition closely resembles the natural sebum produced by our skin, making it an excellent moisturizer that hydrates without clogging pores. There’s plenty of evidence supporting the use of pure jojoba oil as a remedy for acne, dry skin, and countless other skin conditions. I use jojoba oil with a gua sha to reduce morning puffiness, under-eye bags, and to aide in lymphatic drainage. Jojoba oil is rich in vitamins E and B, as well as antioxidants, may help reduce swelling and pain from sun damage, and may help prevent bacterial infections, acne, and dandruff from forming.

Coconut OilRich in medium-chain fatty acids, particularly lauric acid, it possesses natural antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it effective for treating and preventing skin infections. Its deep moisturizing capabilities help hydrate and nourish the skin, making it ideal for dry or sensitive areas, while also acting as a protective barrier against environmental stressors. While we can’t eliminate all of the toxins and environmental stressors we are exposed to but coconut oil can help to protect your skin from them. I use this as body butter, makeup remover, as a deep conditioning hair mask, to make toothpaste and for oil pulling.

Conclusion

The benefits of using natural organic products for skincare are profound and multi-faceted. From gentler formulations to environmental sustainability, making the switch to organic can transform not only your skin but also your overall well-being. As you explore your skincare options, consider embracing the power of nature and the beauty it brings. Your skin will thank you!
